Biological Signal Intelligence — Folio I

The biological signature of mental health.

NeuraSense turns non-invasive biology into a stratified, auditable signal across the mental-health spectrum — one reusable engine, proven first on burnout.

We need to bring the same rigor to mental disorders that we use elsewhere in medicine — measurable, biological signals instead of relying solely on what people report.

One engine, many conditions

A single validated core. A growing library of modules.

The NeuraScore engine is built once. Each new condition ships as a rule pack on top of it — burnout first, more in the pipeline.

The engine

One deterministic engine. Many modules.

NeuraScore converts a biological panel and structured context into a stratified score, a confidence tier and an action route — every line traceable.

Why it holds up
[ I ]
Golden Thread.

Every output line traces back to its rule, evidence grade and source — exportable and reviewable end to end.

[ II ]
Governed by design.

The runtime is fully deterministic. Rules stay frozen and versioned; nothing is improvised per sample.

[ III ]
Reusable core.

Each module adds a rule pack; the engine core is unchanged — decreasing marginal cost per condition.

From literature to readout

Nothing reaches a report without a rule, and no rule without a citation. The knowledge base is built once from graded, DOI-traceable sources; the engine then runs deterministically per sample. Outputs are designed to land in the workflows clinicians and occupational-health teams already use — structured, defensible, and ready to support a decision. Non-diagnostic by design.

The module library

One collection. Many conditions.

Each module is an independent rule pack running on the same engine. A single non-invasive collection can serve several modules at once.

Adding a module is a knowledge-base exercise, not an engineering one — a new literature corpus and a calibration run, on an engine and pipeline that stay unchanged. The result: near-zero incremental sample cost as the library grows. The platform is the asset, not any single test.

Scientific basis

Reading mental health as biology, not category.

Burnout, low mood and anxiety overlap on a continuous spectrum. We read that spectrum through biological domains — not discrete diagnostic boxes.

Two frameworks
[ RDoC ]
Domains, not labels.

The NIMH Research Domain Criteria organise mental health by transversal biological domains rather than categories.

[ METABOLIC ]
Energy, inflammation, rhythm.

Metabolic psychiatry reframes these conditions as partly disorders of brain energy, inflammation and circadian regulation.

[ SIGNAL ]
Measured, not asked.

A non-invasive multi-axis panel makes these domains observable and stratifiable.

Biomarker → domain

Each marker anchored to a recognised domain.

HPA axis — cortisol, DHEA-SArousal & regulation
Catecholaminergic — normetanephrineNegative valence + arousal
Kynurenine / Trp · neopterinNegative valence (neuro-immune)
8-OHdGOxidative load
Evidence & validation

The rule base is built from a graded, DOI-traceable literature corpus, with a structured context instrument guarding interpretation against behavioural confounds. The first module is validated on a cohort of Walloon workers against established burnout inventories — with explicit detection of masked burnout, where biology and self-report diverge.
